General Zod and Lex Luthor
Two of Superman's principal opponents, coming at him from opposite directions. General Zod is a Kryptonian military leader whose record names Superman and Jor-El as enemies outright. Lex Luthor is a human — a businessman and inventor — whose feud with the same hero rests on intellect and money rather than origin. Both belong to the DC Universe and appear across comics, animation and film.
How they met
Through a shared enemy. No fact links them directly; what the records hold is Superman, listed as an enemy of both, and one universe between them. Zod comes from a destroyed Krypton, with a family on file: his mother Lyta-Zod, his wife Ursa, his son Chris Kent. Luthor comes from earthly business, with his father Jules Luthor and memberships in the Injustice Gang, the Injustice League, the Secret Society of Super Villains and even the Justice League.
The core tension
Two answers to one question: how do you beat a Kryptonian. Zod answers with force of the same kind — he is Kryptonian himself and means to restore Krypton at any cost. Luthor answers with what Superman lacks: he is human, and works through invention and influence. One served in the Suicide Squad and the Superman Revenge Squad, the other passed through half a dozen villain leagues — and both kept the same enemy.
